Five NSF pro-grams, four within the Earthquake Hazard Mitigation (EHM) pro-gram, and the fifth on Natural and Technological Hazard Mitiga-tion were represented at the workshop. The EHM programs were:Architectural and Mechanical Systems, Earthquake Systems Inte-gration, Siting and Geotechnical Systems, and Structural Systems.Representative researchers from these programs were invited togive a brief presentation about their research. In addition, Dr. Wil-liam Anderson, the Director of the Earthquake Systems Integrationprogram, Dr. James Jirsa, a professor of civil engineering at theUniversity of Texas, Austin, and Dr. George Lee, the Director ofNCEER presented keynote speeches.
